3 Ways to Turn Your Pumpkins into Pump-KINGS

October 8, 2015 Michael Orozco

The Aloun Farms Pumpkin Patch in Kapolei is open for its 2015 season. Come pick out your favorite pumpkin, learn about Hawaii agriculture and enjoy events on the farm.

This pumpkin-picking season, make use of this festive and versatile fruit. Here are 3 crafts to pump up your pumpkin game:

1. Carve it!

Jack-O’-Lanterns originated in 19th century Ireland, where locals would light carved turnips and rutabaga to ward off evil spirits. Since then, it has become a beloved tradition of Halloween. Try this toothy template and create your own carved work-of-art!

2. Make it Ooze!

After carving your toothy-smiled pumpkin, play mad scientist and make your jack-o-lantern ooze! Scientist Steve Spangler explains how to conduct this safe, fun and messy experiment in this video tutorial.

3. Turn it into Art!

Turn leftover pumpkin seeds into masterpieces! Simply clean the seeds, glue them into a fun design and paint them with festive colors.
