Cultural Events to Feed Your Soul

October 1, 2015 Michael Orozco

Looking for some cultural outings? Good news — there are plenty of events to put a smile on your face:

Here are some of our favorites:

• First Friday!

First Friday is Tomorrow! Head to town for the first Friday gallery walk. Galleries and museums, including the Hawai‘i State Art Museum, are open for the event, which is free to the public.

• Windward Ho`olaule`a

Looking for something to do this weekend? The 1

is Saturday. This homegrown celebration at Windward Community College features top island entertainment, Imaginarium shows, Gallery ‘Iolani exhibit, ‘ono food, keiki rides, arts and crafts, a silent auction, garage sale and fun activities for the whole family!

• Eo e Emalani I Alaka‘i Festival

Celebrate the intrepid Queen Emma’s impromptu 1871 trip with 100 friends through Kōkeʻe and the Alakaʻi Swamp at the 27th Annual Eo e Emalani I Alaka‘i Festival. Start the day with live Hawaiian music followed by the Royal Procession and performances for the Queen by hula halau from all over the state. There are also outdoor exhibits, forest crafts, cultural demonstrations and more.

Hope you get out and enjoy these great events!
