Are you a constant snacker? Find yourself with little willpower in front of the fridge? Emotional or binge eating can be a way to deal with emotions. And binge eating also has a major impact on your health.
Overcome the urge to derail your healthy diet with these tips:
• Don’t over-restrict what you eat.
°If you eat what you want during the day (within reason), you’ll be much less likely to go off the rails at night. If you restrict yourself severely, you might be preoccupied with hunger and rebound with food you’ve been forbidding yourself to eat.
• Keep junk food out of the house.
°Don’t buy tempting indulgences. If they’re not in your cupboard, refrigerator or freezer, you can’t give into them when you have an urge to eat.
• Write down your food intake.
°Keep a journal and track what, how much and why you eat. It will build your awareness that may help you resist temptations.
Binge eating can be a serious disease. If you think your bingeing is more than an occasional moment of weakness, consider enlisting help.
